Course Description:

This course is designed to provide dental professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to successfully plan and execute implant treatment in the esthetic zone. This course emphasizes the importance of understanding biological concepts and digital workflows when planning and executing implant treatment. Participants will have the opportunity to learn and engage in a hands-on workshop and case presentations to explore the latest advances in dental implant technology. Therefore, the aim of this course is to show that utilization of evidenced-based periodontal treatment protocols coupled with the integration of digital technology is indispensable to achieve better results in the aesthetic zone.

Course Objectives:
  • Learn about the advantages of digital vs analog protocol when making surgical guides, provisional restorations, and final prostheses.
  • Learn about different socket classifications and principles for immediate. vs delayed placement and fundamentals of socket grafting.
  • Understand various provisional restoration options, emergence profiles, and Pontic site development.
  • Understand why and how to perform mucogingival procedures with immediate and delayed implant placement.
  • Understand possible surgical and prosthetic pitfalls and complications that could happen and learn how to solve them.
Speaker:
Dr. Hussein Basma received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from Damascus University in 2009. Dr. Basma completed a residency in Prosthodontics at Lebanese University and received a Certificate in Periodontology and a Master of Science from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). Dr. Basma is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Periodontology at UAB. He is a Diplomate in the American Board of Periodontology and lectures nationally and internationally about periodontology and implant dentistry. Dr. Basma has authored numerous peer-reviewed scientific articles and abstracts. His teaching and clinical research efforts focus on bone augmentation, full-arch rehabilitation, multidisciplinary care, and integration of technology to improve patient outcomes.
